Waka Wairua
NGA PAE O TE MARAMATANGA
Waka Wairua is a pan-Pacific investigation into heritage, genealogy and narrative. It aimed to 1.) To deepen understanding and appreciation of Māori heritage; 2). To expand understandings of commonalities that Māori shares with the Pacific - demonstrating shared cultural heritage through historical and contemporary narratives of ancestral landscapes in New Zealand, Taputapuatea and Rarotonga; and, 3. Build a web 2.0-based educational resource as a key mechanism for the creative potential of communities to be given life, to be communicated and to be realised.
Research has been completed, and as of 2021, we are rebuilding an integrated platform to host archival, video and audio material concerning waka vogaging, ancestral landscapes and tupuna. Stay tuned.
