Māori Maps

TE POTIKI NATIONAL TRUST

Māori Maps is a gateway to the Māori world of marae. It aims to take descendants and visitors to the gateway of marae around Aotearoa/New Zealand. The Māori Maps project is managed by Te Potiki National Trust Limited. Brainchild of Paul Tapsell, co-founded with Rereata Makiha, and held together by Kaihautu Peter Dowling, Māori Maps has ticked over a decade of service to the ancestral (tribal) marae of Aotearoa - by being a portal to reconnect the descendent-diaspora.

To date Māori Maps features over 780 ancestral marae, mapped across eight years, and thousands of kilometres.
